Lincoln Electric earns ISO/TS-16949 certification

U.S.-based Lincoln Electric announced that the Torreon manufacturing operations of Lincoln Electric Mexicana S.A. de C.V. has earned ISO/TS-16949 certification, applicable to the design and manufacture of welding consumables.

A press release said that, in general, the technical specification "applies to the design, development, production, and installation/servicing of automotive-related products. ISO/TS-16949 certification enables Lincoln Electric Mexicana to mesh its quality systems with those of its automotive customers and suppliers and further the company's commitment to quality." The certification was issued through ABS Quality Evaluations, it said.

Lincoln Electric Mexicana, based in Mexico City, currently has three plants, including one in the Mexico City Federal District and two in Torreon, Coahuila. Lincoln Electric operations in Mexico employ 700 people, including more than 40 sales representatives with sales offices in Monterrey, Mexico City, Queretaro, Villahermosa, Guadalajara, Chihuahua and Tijuana, the release said.
