Czech company plans new cable plant

Czech cable manufacturer Lamela Electric is planning to build a new cable plant in Sušice, in the Czech Republic's south-western Pilsen region.

A story by Jaroslaw Adamowski, European Plastics News, cited cited Zdeněk Houdek, chief executive of Lamela Electric, as saying that the project was worth an estimated 58 million euroa. It said that the plant will create as many as 120 jobs at the new plant according to Česká informační agentura, a local news agency.

Lamela Electric makes rubber and plastic insulated cables and wires, with its product portfolio including power, communication and data cables as well as cables for automotive industry, photovoltaic systems and public transportation facilities, the story said. The ISO 9001-certified company, founded in 1970, had its name changed from Kabelovna Chyše in 2004, it said.
