WAI to host its 3rd International Technical Conference in Monterrey, Mexico, this October

The Wire Association International (WAI), Inc. will return to Monterrey, Mexico for the third time to hold its 2016 International Technical Conference (ITC). The event, which includes technical paper presentations, tabletop exhibits, and social functions, will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Monterrey as it was in 2008 and 2010; this time scheduled for October 18-20, 2016.

Sergio Valdés Ramírez of Viakable – a manufacturer and distributor of wire and cable products such as magnet wire, control cable and flexible cords and cables – is one of two featured speakers on Tuesday, Oct. 18. To date, 17 technical paper presentations are planned and will be offered with simultaneous translation between English and Spanish.

WAI’s local organizers include: Patricio G. Murga, Viakable; Eduardo Anaya, Indepa S.C.; and José Antonio Ayala Reyna, WAI Past President. The program was developed with co-organizer Asociación Nacional de Transformadores de Acero A.C. (ANTAAC). Roberto de la Vega, President of ANTAAC, is the second featured speaker on Tuesday, 18 October.

Remarking on the state of the Mexican wire and cable industry since the 2010 ITC, Murga said, “Most of the big important auto makers, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Nissan, Honda, BMW, Toyota, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, KIA, AUDI, have arrived to Mexico, or have increased the existing capacity in the country. In parallel, and similarly, important cable makers, have arrived and/or have increased their production capacity for serving the auto industry… The ITC is an excellent opportunity for the technical personnel of the ferrous and nonferrous sectors for meeting suppliers and attending a number of highly interesting technical papers.”
