WAI Operations Summit & Wire Expo 2014 Keynote Speaker
"The Technical Professional of 2020"
TUESDAY, MAY 6
Dr. Phillip Cornwell, is an award-winning professor and vice president of academic affairs at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. His keynote presentation will address the kinds of expertise manufacturers can expect to need in the year 2020 and beyond.
While the basic laws of engineering don't change, the tools and the way in which they are deployed do.
Cornwell will explain how Rose-Hulman, which has a 100% placement rate for its engineering graduates, adapts its curriculum to meet future needs of employers. He will also discuss the value to manufacturers of setting up internships, the importance of a team approach at work and why companies should take steps to make sure that employees, once hired, are not forgotten in terms of keeping fresh on the latest technology.
Cornwell, who holds Ph.D. and master's degree from Princeton University's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and a B.S. degree from Texas Tech University's Department of Mechanical Engineering, joined Rose-Hulman as professor in its Mechanical Engineering Department in 1989. He joined the Mechanical Engineering Department at Rose-Hulman in 1989, and attained his current position in 2011. Prior to joining Rose-Hulman, he served as visiting faculty and staff at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he is still a visiting faculty member, and at Princeton University.
