SKET reports order from Turkey
Germany's SKET GmbH reports that it has supplied and commission double-twist bunching machines, tubular stranding machines and a cage-type stranding machine to Erciyes Celik Halat in Kayseri, Turkey.
A press release said that the 13 systems were delivered over's a year period that concluded in November 2012. The machines, it said, are capable of producing a wide range of steel wire ropes for lifts, cranes and mining applications together with ACSR cables. The stranding machines, which were commissioned by the end of 2012, were valued at about 10 million euros, and “further projects with this customer are in the planning stage.”
The news follows SKET’s commissioning last November of what it described as "one of the longest tubular stranding machines for the production of steel wire strand together with the world’s largest cage type stranding machine for the closing of steel wire rope" for Bridon. That system, it said, can produce ropes with diameters up to 250 mm on the closing machine in take-up weights of up to 650 metric tons. The 8 x 2700 cage strander, it said, has bobbins with a capacity of 38 metric tons and a 16 x 2300 cage strander having bobbins with a capacity of 15 metric tons.
