Wire Expo 2010

Production Solutions - Wednesday, May 12 & Thursday, May 13

Exchange your questions for answers during WAI’s popular 30-minute production solutions demonstrations held on the exhibit floor. Select one or all three topics:

Wire Breaks | 1:30 p.m. Wed. | 11:45 a.m. Thu.
Is it the process or the material? Learn to distinguish between wire break causes as Dr. Horace Pops, Horace Pops Consulting Inc., facilitates the discussion.

Location: Booth 313 (Properzi International Inc.)

Diamond as an Engineering Material | 2:15 p.m. Wed | 10:15 a.m. Thu.

Diamond is one of the newest engineering materials on the market. Wire mills have used diamond wire dies for a number of years; however, synthetic diamond is relatively young (discovered 60 years ago) as an engineering material. Joe Memmott of US Synthetic Wire Die shows how diamond's unique properties make it an extremely important material for companies across multiple industries that are looking to increase revenue and lower costs.

Location: Booth 411 (US Synthetic Wire Die)

Lubricants for Cold Heading Applications | 3:00 p.m. Wed. | 11:00 a.m. Thu.

Condat’s Neil Lowdon discusses the various types of wiredrawing lubricants used for cold heading application, including oils, pastes, greases, and powder-based products. He addresses the pros and cons of each product type and offers an analysis of the characteristics and advantages of powder-based lubricants, including matching the correct product to the forming process requirements.

Location: Booth 420 (Condat Corp.)
