Hello there,
We never used hydraulic cutters to cut cables like this. Instead we used a custom (home made) pull down type rotary saw with a special saw blade on the arm as recommended by a saw blade representative. The cable rides across a machined base with a slot in it to accommodate the blade. If there is no jacket over the armor, you must strongly tape the spot where you intend to make the cut. You may even have to reinforce the tape with steel wire on each side of the spot where you intend to cut the cable. Tightly clamp the cable on both sides of the saw blade before cutting.
Experiment, be very careful, wear gloves and safety glasses.
It actually worked very well.
