Best dry lubricant for continuous wire drawing was created by Archived Forum Admin
Greetings,

Can anyone advise me on the best "dry lubricant" for continuous wire drawing from size 5.5mm to 0.75mm?

The wire is carbon steel wire - rimmed equivalent grade similar to SWRM6R rimmed steel(carbon content 0.06%); another type i am thinking of using is SWRM8K killed steel wire (carbon content max. 0.1%).

i need the drawn wire to be easily cleaned, that means the dry lubricant is not thick and sticky.

Regards,
wong

Depending on the number of passes, you could use a calcuim base lubricant for the first two or three die boxes and the rest a sodium base lubricant.

Contact dry drawing lubricant manufactures like:

Henkel ( drawing lubricants division )
