AWPA Annual Meeting and Long Products Symposium
scheduled in cooperation with Wire Expo
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 2010

— Groups plan complementary agendas in shared location to boost mutual interest, involvement —

GUILFORD, Connecticut, USA – October 26, 2009 – The Wire Association International (WAI), Inc. announces that the American Wire Producers Association (AWPA) has agreed to host its annual meeting and first-time “Long Products Supply Chain Symposium” in conjunction with WAI’s Wire Expo trade event, in Milwaukee, WI, in May 2010.

Working alongside WAI, the AWPA has planned to host its annual meeting and a new symposium May 9-11, 2010, in Milwaukee, just prior to the opening of WAI’s 80th Annual Convention, which kicks off on May 11. Additionally, WAI’s Wire Expo exhibits will run May 12-13 in a first-time co-location with The National Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo.

Sitting squarely between shouldering and complementary events, Wire Expo 2010 exhibits will be shortened to a two-day format.

“We have worked with allied groups to schedule Wire Expo so that it is conducive to participants from both the ferrous and nonferrous sectors of the industry,” said WAI Executive Director Steven Fetteroll. “We’re also sensitive to limited travel budgets so we appreciate how this segmented schedule can dovetail to boost participation from all sectors of the wire and cable community.”

AWPA’s Executive Director Kimberly Korbel said, “Partnerships such as this one between the AWPA and WAI are critical as we find cost effective ways to bring our members the benefits that are even more essential, at this time. The new Symposium will be open to anyone representing a company in the long products supply chain; rod suppliers, wire manufacturers, fabricators, distributors and the suppliers to the industry.”

WAI anticipates participation from 225 exhibiting companies. These organizations are suppliers to, or manufacturers in, the international wire and cable industry and they represent either the ferrous, nonferrous, electrical, fiber optic, or fastener sectors of the industry.

In addition to exhibits, plant operations, engineering, purchasing, and management personnel can choose from several Wire Expo convention activities including a complete technical program, production solution sessions, networking exchanges, and social functions.

Wire Expo is held biennially for the wire and cable manufacturing industry. Initiated in 1990 in Boston, Wire Expo offers global industry information in a regional setting and a timely meeting point for suppliers, manufacturers, buyers, researchers, and industry pioneers from around the globe.

Wire Expo 2010 has educational alliances with the Australasian Wire Industry Association and the Asociación Nacional de Transformadores de Acero, A.C., (ANTAAC), which represents ferrous wire manufacturing operations in Mexico.

Event details are presented at WAI’s website: www.wirenet.org.
