Does anybody know a formula to calculate the interstices between different layers of a stranded conductor (compressed or compact).

Hello bighead,

As far as I know, there are no equations. All the layer interstitial spaces are experimentally determined. This is why there is much experimentation to manufacture filled strand and why many use semi-conducting water blocking tapes instead.
