Demineralized water was created by Archived Forum Admin
The annealer tube is immersed in a water bath. The water should be demineralized or not? If yes, how can we do it ? What will be happen if we use the air for cooling in spite of water.

Thank you for your help.

Hello there,

Being a nonferrous engineer, I cannot answer your ferrous questions but as far as water demineralization is concerned, I suggest you read the following web page:

As far as the heat treatment is concern, the water does not have to desminaralized . Hard water will not affect the steel treatment.

The condition of the element(water, air ,salt, lead, etc.)is to remove heat uniformilly, air on its own might not be uniform on absorving heat.Fluidized bed can be another solution.

My experience is with magnet wire annealers however if you do not use demineralized water what happens is mineral deposits build up and clog tubes, etc, reducing efficiency. You can avoid a lot of problems using a demineralizer.
