Description: This paper discusses a smart bridge cable assembled with the Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) strain sensor and temperature sensor. It explains development of the cable fabrication procedure and successful calibration of the cable’s self-sensing force property. It also details the application of the smart bridge cable on the Jingyue stay bridge linking Hunan and Hubei provinces in China.
