TOPIC: Aircraft - Electrical Signal Wire

Aircraft - Electrical Signal Wire 2 years 9 months ago #439

Dear All,

Many aircrafts utilize a fly-by-wire system whereby electrical signals are transfered via "signal cables" for flight control.

I am trying to determine whether the signals are transfered via AC or DC. Does anyone have an answer or know of some good resources that may have this information?

Thanks!

Hello there,

I am under the impression that "Fly-by-Wire" is a digital control system, Please see these web pages:

www.airbus.com/en/corporate/people/compa.../history/part_6.html
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_flight_control_systems
www.nasa.gov/centers/dryden/news/FactSheets/FS-024-DFRC.html

Some advanced military aircraft use optical fiber instead of wire and this is called a "Fly-by-Light" digital control system.

Servo motors, some hydraulically assisted, and other hydraulic devices do the actual work on the control surfaces.
