RoHS Compliance

Our customers are asking for RoHS compliance for our cables. How can we give a compliance. Does we require to get all the raw materials tested or will the certificate from our suppliers be acceptable. Where can the cables be tested for RoHS compliance.

I suggest that you deal with this worldwide company, at least for a start:

Intertec Analytical Services

We noted that they have an RoHS testing and compliance location in your country and they should be able to answer all of your questions.

PC Magazine defines RoHS as:

"(Reduction of Hazardous Substances) European Union regulations enforceable on July 1, 2006 that set maximum concentration limits on hazardous materials used in electrical and electronic equipment. The substances are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).

Exceptions - Depending on the device being manufactured, there are exceptions. For example, lead in solders used in high-reliability applications for which there is no known substitute. Mercury is permitted in limited quantities in some fluorescent lamps while unrestricted in other types.
