Bunched vs Solid Conductor was created by Archived Forum Admin
Good day!

I have a question regarding building wires conductor. I would like to know what is the different between solid conductor and bunched conductors. Which of the two is better and can reduce cost on copper?

Thanks!

The most common difference is flexibility. A stranded or bunched wire will be more flexible than a solid conductor. You can easily find online awg size charts which will also outline the electrical characteristics of solid vs. stranded wire (or purchase an electrical wire handbook from the bookstore). Typically you will not be changing from a solid to a strand just to save copper cost. Specifications from the end user will dictate your constructions.

As Erik Macs recommended, here are the electrical wire handbooks you should have in your plant technical library;
