For High Carbon wire drawing, it is recomended to use the first passes calcium base lubricants and the rest sodium base, depending on the number of passes.

Hi Jagdish,

I have listed down 2 suppliers who have assisited our company with lubricants and you will find them experts in this feild.

David Roughton (Condat)

or you can try: Steve Sviecka (Agent for Traxit)

These 2 guys will get what you need to successfully draw the high carbon wire from 8mm to a 25% reduction, I assume in a single pass.

I tried looking up this question and there really aren't many answers out there. I know this thread is old but does lubricant and oil mean the same thing. I wouldn't know if lubricant is also called oil in the lubricant market because most answers online gave me pages with searches with oil. There were also categories of what needed to be done with the high carbon steel. The different types of oils or lubricant depended on that. I would like to read up more about this to understand better.
